Cathedral Church of St. Peter & St. Paul

The Washington National Cathedral – one of the most beautiful things you’ll see around the D.C. area.  The construction of what would become the 6th largest cathedral in the world began in 1907; in the presence of President Teddy Roosevelt.  It was finally completed, 83 long years later, in the presence of George H.W. Bush in 1990. I’m still a bit sad that we waited until the last day of our trip to visit this magnificent place.  I only came away with a few decent captures because I was so pressed for time as we needed to get to the airport AND because it was the one day out of the week it decided to rain.  Anyway, this is the view from the back of the sanctuary facing the main alter.  I just enjoy the structure and color in this one…I know it’s not the best composition, but I figured it was worthy of a post.
